Hi, I'm Claire, I've been working with children for nearly 30 years within many different environments. My passion is to help children who find it difficult to cope socially and emotionally with everyday life and mental health issues. Through Play and Creative Arts Therapy I am able to do this. I am a fully qualified Play therapist (PGDip in Play Therapy) and can currently offer sessions to children aged 4-16 years within schools or privately at my home. I am registered with PTUK and also I am on the accredited register of the PSA (Professional Standards Authority).
Play and creativity is a natural medium for children and young adults as it releases oxytocin within the brain so I offer them the space and safety to address their difficulties through the use of music, art, puppets, clay, role play or sand. Many children find it difficult to talk about their problems so by using different parts of the kit, children are often able to address the issues without necessarily discussing them.
I am also a Parent Child Attachment Play practitioner (PCAP). I work with parents to encourage a deeper level of understanding of their child through using different creative arts.
